Spring Floral Photography
After temps in the 70s and 80s most of this week, it seemed spring had finally decided to stick around. As pollen levels dramatically increased this week, my allergies have been getting the better of me. So you might think I would welcome a third consecutive Sunday with snow flurries. However, this just means my allergies are going to keep acting up as the pollen levels continue to rise and fall repeatedly. So I decided I’d attempt to make the best out of this situation by exploring an example of pollen, up close and personal.
Therefore, today’s final addition to my series exploring floral photography is this close-up of pollen stamen in a lily. There were three incredible blooms on this one stem. Exploring various photographic angles and lighting made it exceptionally difficult to settle on only one image to share in this post.
My spring floral photography . . .
. . . gallery has continued to grow. The lily images are yet another case where I couldn’t decide on only one specific image to capture the beauty of the blooms. So I’ve decided to include multiple angles and images of this particular lily. This “Florals on Black” project has been a welcome distraction in the waning days of winter. However, I am more than ready for the warmer sunny days where I can once again spend quality time outside. I’m looking forward to spending several weekends exploring in the Flint Hills and also taking in some astrophotography in the evenings. The Flint Hills offers many great opportunities to nourish the creative side of my passion for landscape photography. I find a real sense of beauty in the pastoral settings in the rolling hills and plains of Kansas.
So stay tuned and watch for my upcoming photo series on the Flint Hills of Kansas.
