The original alignment of Route 66 between 1926 and 1937 went through Santa Fe, New Mexico. In our preliminary planning, we decided although this was a longer route, it would offer more photo opportunities. We arrived in Santa Fe early in the day so we decided to take a detour to visit Taos, NM. I’m glad we made that decision because this beautiful small town provided some incredibly picturesque opportunities.
After we walked around the central plaza of the historic district we headed down one of the side streets. Less than a block away I noticed these converging lines in a bank building. The color of the southwest adobe architecture contrasted nicely against a deep blue sky. It took some time to find a vantage point where I could capture the image while keeping the building lines straight. Although slight keystoning is still visible, I like the overall composition and am glad we made this detour.
