Northern Lights in Kansas

 

Sunday night (April 23, 2023) we had a rare opportunity to see the Northern Lights here in Kansas City. A little after 11:00 pm, I grabbed my camera and headed west to escape some of the city’s lights. I randomly exited off K-10 between Kansas City and Lawrence and headed north. I took one of the intersecting roads and headed west. After about a half-mile, I pulled off the road, grabbed my tripod and camera, and set up for a long exposure.

This was the result of my first shot. I was quite satisfied with my first Northern Lights image, so I packed up my camera and headed back home to the warmth of my cozy bed.
