During the last year, I’ve been continuing my 365-project of taking a photograph each day. One day while searching for photo inspiration in an antique mall in the River Market, I came across a collection of Barbie and Ken dolls. I was intrigued by the vignettes they had created using travel posters as the background. That piqued my interest and sparked an idea of using photos I’d taken around town as the background images. So, this summer I started learning more about using Photoshop to create composite images. My days became consumed with watching tutorials and reading instructional books. After several weeks of trial and error, I had completed a collection of several images that tickled the imagination of friends and relatives. Based on their feedback, I decided to create enough additional images to use this concept for continuing my photo calendar tradition. As a frameable monthly calendar these composite images. . . a changeable piece of artwork each month, will surely inspire me to keep up my daily photography endeavors.
And voilà, my 2019 photo poster calendar was born! Friends have applauded the concept! They even offered to pay for the calendars. Especially because my 2019 photo calendar was more of a piece of whimsical artwork than a calendar. Therefore, motivated by their response, I’ve decided to push forward. I recognize my calendar concept is still in its infancy, but my website now offers the option to purchase these calendars. My hope is others will find them inspiring and fun. So, as they say, “Without any further ado . . .
. . . welcome the new year with my 2019 Photo Poster Calendar.”
